Abstract
Technical words are those which are not words of common behavior or colloquial language but are related to different fields of knowledge. Like Sociology, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Biology, Philosophy, Psychology, Economics, Politics, Logic, Mathematics etc. According to Dr. Bholanath Tiwari, those whose meaning limits are defined or fixed in various knowledge sciences or scriptures are called technical terminologies. So, because the definitions are relative, they have been called ‘technical terminologies’. It would not be an exaggeration to say that creation of terminology is an integral part of the process of modernization. Its analysis is possible at both linguistic and social scientific levels. There is no significant difference between general and definitional words in linguistic structure. But from the point of view of meaning there is a difference between general and definitional words. Common words can be taken in any of the forms Abhidha, Lakshana, and Vyanjana as per requirement. But not the technical terms. Here the word is taken in its meaning only. The meaning of a word can be expanded for effectiveness in literary or common language practice. But this is not possible in technical terminology. For example- ‘Ray of hope’ or ‘He is a donkey’. These words appear in literary or general usage in figurative sense. But this type of deviation is never possible in technical terms. Because in physics the word ‘ray’ has been adopted as its original meaning ‘ray of light’. same way -The word ‘donkey’ is used in zoology only in the sense of a specific ‘animal’. Never in the sense of fool or idiot. In this way, technical words are accepted in the same meaning in their subject area.
