<p><span class="tc-sec-lbl">Abstract</span></div>
<div class="tc-abstract">This article explores how Ali’s poetry redefines the very possibilities of witnessing from exile in a postcolonial context. The study draws on recent scholarship in affect theory and transnational poetics. His dual identity, Indian-American poet, more specifically, Kashmiri-Indian-American poet gives him a hybrid space that is simultaneously diasporic, yet deeply connected to his homeland. In today’s world, where contemporary crises like the 2019 abrogation of Article 370, exacerbating Kashmir’s cultural erasure, and removal of his work from university curricula, his work grows in importance. The poems in the selected anthologies, The Country Without a Post Office (1997) and Rooms Are Never Finished (2001), do not fix the rupture between past and present, but rather widen it by making it into a chronic wound which, through memory, history, and grief, continually passes from generation to generation. Furthermore, Ali treats language as an occupied territory. Through refusal of resolution and multilingual echoes, Ali transforms exile into perpetual witnessing, comparable to global conflicts like Palestinian poets like Mahmoud Darwish. This analysis engages recent works, such as Ghosh’s phenomenology of nostalgia (2020), to argue Ali’s poetics as a blueprint for 21st-century resistance.</div>

<p><span class="tc-sec-lbl">Abstract</span></div>
<div class="tc-abstract">Godan is a picture of Indian agrarian society where the interplay of power, culture and social hierarchy has been depicted. Munshi Premchand has drawn the various aspects of rural India in the novel. The analysis of the various incidents and occurrences of the novel reflect the power dynamics, class, gender, caste, culture, and belief system of the society. It depicts the struggle of Hori, rebellious nature of Gobar, exploitation of Selia, dogmatic nature of Rai Saheb, western values of Malti, philosophical tone of Mr. Mehta and many more aspects of the rural and urban culture. The present paper studies the novel as a perfect mosaic of cultural studies as it shows the diverse aspects of the culture within the fabric of rural and urban society. The lifelong struggle of Hori exemplifies the hegemonic power of the culture where the economic, cultural and social aspects of the society have been dominated by the upper caste and elite class. It reveals the hegemony of culture and ideologies which largely govern the lives of the characters.</div>

<p><span class="tc-sec-lbl">Abstract</span></div>
<div class="tc-abstract">Zadie Smith’s White Teeth (2000), is a blend of historical fiction and cultural commentary that explores postcolonial concepts such as ambiguity, diaspora, displacement, migration, fragmented identity etc. in post-war Britain. White Teeth is pivotal in understanding the experiences of the immigrants and their quest for a sense of belonging. Zadie Smith’s On Beauty (2005) is set in Wellington where the migrant community, Haitians reside. Both these novels provide a powerful lens to examine cultural identity and multiculturalism in the immigrant society. Smith’s writing is a commentary on the life of the immigrant characters and their philosophical strategies that they employ to navigate their identities. She examines how the intellectual culture that is rampant in the universities plays a crucial role in shaping the identity of Black women.  Zadie Smith is often seen as a beacon of multicultural hope and optimism. She portrays characters who wade through conflicting social and cultural contexts that particularly affect the women of colour who are confronted with conflicting opportunities and challenges in a multicultural society.</div>

<p><span class="tc-sec-lbl">Abstract</span></div>
<div class="tc-abstract">On exploring Margaret Atwood’s Surfacing (1972), this article reads the work through the ecocritical lens of ecofeminism: mind, body, and spirit for the unnamed first-person narrator lead from alienation and disconnection toward redemption in self/nature. The critique of forms of patriarchal ideology that exploit and oppress both women and the earth is potent in this novel. By analyzing issues of alienation, disconnection, feminism, and ecological awareness, the paper shows how Atwood represents nature as a healing and renewing power. The protagonist’s flight to the wild not only offers her an occasion to confront a buried trauma and rediscover her lost self but also helps fashion an ecofeminist consciousness that refuses dominant patriarchy, territorial violence, and cultural alienation. Through thematic and interpretative reading, this paper contends that Surfacing prepares a return to nature, not as an evasion of reality but as a solution for mental health, moral acceptance and self-replenishment.</div>

<p><span class="tc-sec-lbl">Abstract</span></div>
<div class="tc-abstract">This ongoing study is an investigation of the values imparted on the ecological world and the interplay between anthropocentric and eco-centric perspectives as manifested in Allan Sealy’s fiction The Everest Hotel. The anthropocentric viewpoint places human needs and values at the forefront. Anthropocentrism believes that humans are the most important or central entity in the world. It places humans above nature, viewing the environment mainly in terms of how it benefits humans. whereas the eco-centric viewpoint highlights the inherent value of all life forms and ecosystems. Eco-centrism is the belief that nature has intrinsic value, independent of its usefulness to humans. It places the ecosystem as a whole (plants, animals, water, land, and humans) at the centre of moral concern. Literature acts as a dialogic arena where these contrasting ideologies engage, critique, and evolve and this research presents the argument that environmental literature operates dialectically, not simply opposing these worldviews but rather synthesizing them into a more comprehensive ecological awareness that harmonizes human and non-human world.</div>

<p><span class="tc-sec-lbl">Abstract</span></div>
<div class="tc-abstract">This essay examines Banu Mushtaq&#8217;s short story &#8220;Heart Lamp,&#8221; which shows how emotional trauma and gendered silence operate within a patriarchal household. It tells the story of a Muslim woman whose husband doesn&#8217;t care about her emotional needs, and society puts pressure on her. The subject is a type of trauma called &#8220;unseen trauma,&#8221; which happens when people don&#8217;t talk about it and are ignored. The story is told as a quiet act of resistance: lighting the Heart Lamp, which symbolizes inner strength even when no one can see it. This novel is based on the work of Judith Herman and Cathy Caruth on trauma theory. The story mocks famous tales that ignore women&#8217;s daily struggles and their strength in overcoming them. Overall, &#8220;Heart Lamp&#8221; does a fantastic job of showing how trauma really feels and how politics work when people don&#8217;t speak up.</div>

<div class="tc-abstract">Contemporary discourse on Artificial Intelligence often touts technological advancement as a move towards perfection, positing that Artificial Intelligence would be the key to perfecting human fallibility. On the other hand, discourse surrounding AI also has its fair share of cynicism and fear.  This paper shall explore the theme of machine perfection in contrast to human imperfection as portrayed in the novel Machines Like Me (2019) by Ian McEwan. The paper shall explore and critique how moral ambiguity, emotional contradictions and the capacity for error in human beings are distinctive traits of human identity and locate how McEwan’s narrative challenges the notion of progress and technological utopianism by reframing imperfection as a defining trait of humanity’s strength.</div>

<p><span class="tc-sec-lbl">Abstract</span></div>
<div class="tc-abstract">The novel Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy is deeply concerned with the challenge of reconciling one&#8217;s moral obligation with what one desires personally, which is central to the tragedy depicted in Anna Karenina. The paper demonstrates how each of the main characters, notably Anna Karenina, experience the pain of contradictory events as they attempt to live according to the strict moral expectations of the aristocratic class of Russia and seek emotional authenticity and personal fulfillment. Anna&#8217;s intense love affair with Count Vronsky generates considerable psychological and ethical turmoil, thereby exposing the negative impact created by a society that places great value on moral conformity but does not provide compassion for individual differences.</div>

<p><span class="tc-sec-lbl">Abstract</span></div>
<div class="tc-abstract">This paper examines the concept of intermediality in the context of Indian English poetry, with a particular focus on the three select poems of Sudeep Sen, namely, “Paper T[r]ails, “The Bharatanatyam Dancer,” and “The Card Players.” Sen&#8217;s poetry deftly merges diverse media forms, offering a rich ground for the exploration of intermediality. Intermediality is an under-researched yet increasingly relevant area within the context of Indian English poetry; it involves the integration of multiple media forms such as visual, auditory, and textual elements. This study employs a theoretical framework grounded in intermediality, focusing on its three key concepts: transposition, combination, and reference. Through a thorough textual analysis, this study proposes that Sen&#8217;s works not only employ intermedial elements but also explore the potential of Indian English poetry to engage in multimedial innovations, thereby challenging conventional boundaries of literary expression. In a media-saturated world, Sen’s poetry uses intermediality as a transformative tool, allowing poetry to evolve and expand, contributing to its expressive possibilities. This paper also contributes to the scholarly discourse on intermediality, focusing on its significance in broadening the scope and depth of contemporary Indian English poetry.</div>
