The intrinsic connection between ecological landscape and human society paves the way for all living beings to live under equitable conditions. Technological transformations of the world disturbing the ecological balance are exemplified through the genre of science fiction. The field of environmental agnotology elucidates human ignorance of the ongoing ecological attrition. The present study aims to identify the need to prevent environmental agnotology through Paolo Bacigalupi’s short story, “The Tamarisk Hunter”. It attempts to uncover the synthesised uncertainty that shields human reason and conceals the severity of the environmental disaster. This paper focuses on how Paolo Bacigalupi unearths the delay in realising the potential harms of environmental agnotology. It also asserts the dire need to comprehend the implications of human activities on the natural sphere in order to avert the possible destruction of the ecosystem.
